|

Okay, so I have an unlocked Galaxy Nexus phone from overseas compatible with 2100 Mhz. I went to a dealer on Saturday and asked them if I could open a KT account with the phone and they said okay, but I will have to come back because they can't open accounts on the weekend. So I left my phone with them and returned on Monday. When I came back, they said that they got me a SIM card but my phone can't work in Korea so I would have to buy a new phone. I told them it should be compatible but they insisted there is NO WAY for the phone to work. So I went to the KT Global branch in Ansan and they told me I had to register my device on the KT network. But they said that they can't do it, I would have to go back to where I first got the SIM card. So the place I bought the service insists it can't work in Korea and your Ansan branch is telling me they can't register the device. Could I get some insight here as to what to do to get my Nexus working? Can the KT Global branch in Ansan really not do anything just because I opened the account with a dealer? |

Cancel/unsubscribe/void/nullify whatever you've signed up with the dealer. You are ambiguous about 'what kind of plan' the SIM from said dealer is under, but there could be some sort of network-wide restriction on the number of phone plan per person/ARC number.
It is true that you need to give KT a 'waiver form' for overseas device, as well as that your IMEI needs to be registered by KT. (though the latter part will soon be abolished in a couple of months)
In KT terminology, I think you need to sign up for '유심단독개통' (which translates,'SIM-only subscription', as opposed to integrated installment plan for a new handset that is the norm in Korea) and then choose '후불요금제' which are regular, monthly plans from which you choose a voice+data package of your preference. |

they didn't ask me for any of that waiver stuff. signed me on the monthly sim only thing no problem.
Actually while I'm here, I've signed up on olleh.com but for some reason the sign in to the 'mobile gogaeg centre' app on android won't accept that login (need it to check my minutes remaining). any ideas? |

Thanks, I actually got it working now. Apparently the store had never had someone with an unlocked phone come in before, so they didn't activate the phone's serial and IMEI on the KT network first. Had to get someone at KT to phone them and let them know about the process. Had to get a new sim card and phone number too, not exactly sure why. |

I've already got an unlocked phone added to the kt monthly rolling contract plan (i.e only a months contract)
if i get a second hand galaxy s or s2, will i have to go and register the imei again or will it just work if i plug the sim card in? |
