The US Postal Service has screwed me over once again. A few years ago, I lost a position because the idiots in the postal service lost my passport. Now, after four months of waiting, I get my notarized and apostilled CRC back with damaged packaging and a message saying "Sorry, we effin destroyed your package because we are incompetent" or something to that effect. I can't wait another three months for the whole process to be done again, and I shouldn't have to since the postal service is at fault, as usual.

Any tips? Advice? I am beyond furious at this point. Is there anything I can really do??

Was it completely torn in half or just beat up? Have you already informed your recruiter/school/whoever you'll be sending your docs to? Maybe if it's still partially together and legible they'd still take it...

If you do have to do the whole thing again, the U.S. State Dept. has walk-in hours where you're able to get an apostille the same day- of course, that's only helpful if you're near DC. If not, try to find a friend in the DC area and ask/beg/pay them to do it for you. It'll be cheaper than using a courier service and will cut down the CBC and apostille process by about half. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way to speed up the CBC process.

Well, the CRC is completely in half but it is absolutely legible. The signatures, seal, etc. were left untouched.

Thanks. I'll look into it

Its immigration that has to accept it. Call immigration and tell them your story. Don't use USPS. It can get messed up, lost, or come 3 months later than expected. Always use FEDEX, DHL or UPS

If you have to get another background check you can contact your elected representative who can put pressure on the FBI to return your results quickly. It has worked for some people. Use an apostille service like rushdocs.com to get your apostille.
