Apparently, one needs to report to Kimmi within 14 days if you renew your passport. If you don't report it within 14 days one needs to pay a fine. I'm not complaining , nor surprised by this! makes sense..

SO, I applied for my passport renewal towards the end of March, I didn't receive it in the mail until sometime early april however The issue date in my passport is march 29th.

I didn't report it right after receiving it mostly because I just didn't have any time at all, Life got in the way, I've been extra busy with work, briefly forgot about it and didn't think it was an emergency to do..... All of which is my fault for not getting it done sooner..

weak excuses aside, my question is: anyone here reported a change of passport late and know what the "fine" amount is?

I'm curious! I'll most likely be going to the immigration office tomorrow.

I was told 100,000 won by the Incheon Immigration Office, however I played dumb and they let me away with it. They did make a note of it though, and said they would charge me next time.

At least 100,000 and up to 1,000,000.

Normally they would charge you with 100,000, especially if you're just a couple of weeks late with the report.
There is a slight chance they will let you get away with it. It mainly depends on the person in charge and what kind of mood he is in.

gotcha...

somehow, I think my local immigration office isn't that strict.. I applied for an F2 renewal with an almost expired Passport ( less than a week left on it). They didnt bother to check any of the paperwork filled out nor my Id.. they just gave a 2 year renewal on the spot... My passport needed to be valid for Much longer than it was to apply for the extension..

Here's hoping I don thave to pay much or anything at all if i play dumb....

Oh, if you are F-2 than your chances are even better.

I was a few days late to report my new address and the guy told me that I didnt need to pay a fine but only because Im married to a Korean.

You're family and that puts you in a special category.

Change of address can be done at your new local Gu Office. No trip to immigration is necessary. However you should be prompt about it. I hope this saves some people a trip.

If you get a new passport, you will need to have a new visa sticker put in it so you'll have to go to immigration.

Just came back from immigration...

I just played dumb and told them i received the passport late in the mail and that I thought it was 30 days... The immigration lady looked at me and said i should have done it before 14 days. The she typed the new passport number in the computer and that was it... no mention of any fine...

glad that's taken care of...

1000000 fine won for that and I instantly walk, leaving my employer to pick up the pieces.
