So I have been looking at talktomeinkorean.com and started the lessons but wondering if there is anything else I should do to learn the language while I wait. I have been thinking of maybe Rosetta Stone but not to sure if it will be effective. Any advice is appreciated.

You should get it if you know how to avoid paying hundreds of dollars for it...

Anyway, it's 100% up to your style of learning. I love TTMiK, one on one language exchange, and a little Rosetta Stone for the times when I'm too tired/bored to study on paper.

Some people do better in classrooms, with flashcards, etc. Try a lot and find out what works for you.

The two best books I've used are Basic Korean Grammar Workbook (Andrew Sangpil Byon) and 2000 Korean words. I haven't got the book to hand but it's bright yellow/ orange and has 2000 words chosen because of TOPIK lists with a sample sentence for each. It's awesome.

I finished the grammar workbook and I think it dropped me into TTMIK around level 3 or 4. I'm progressing ok with the site, but I find it doesn't go into my memory the way the book does so I forget more. I also had an old copy of a colloquial Korean book that was in my old school office that introduced really useful grammar points. I wish I'd 'accidentally' taken it home with me now...!
