I was wondering how much the price of staples, such as kimbap, have risen since I left in 2010.
When I first moved to Korea at the end of 2005 the price of kimbab was 1000 won. At some point it went up to 1500 won and possibly another price jump before I left.

How about goods that are esy to track? Like a loaf of whole wheat bread. A pint of Cass(usually 3000, but could still be found at 2500 in a few places in 2010), small bottle of water (500w), cup noodle (650), etc....

Basic salary hasn't changed much and the exchange rate hasn't improved either.

Oh the days when kimbab was cheon won and for every million I sent home it translated to more than 1200 dollars. I miss you.

Hopefully it's still financially worth moving back to Korea.

In 2006 it was easy to buy a 250g can of tuna for 1000won or less.

Now the same can goes for 2ooo-2,500won.

The better kimbab is going for 2,500 these days it seems.

Chic Choc cookies are the best example of the crazy inflation I've seen since coming here six years ago.

2006 price: 1,000 won
2012 price: 2,700 won.

170% increase in price in 6 years. That. is. crazy.

Also, they make the cookies smaller now. Just nuts.

Edit: Maths
