Can somebody tell me if there are any major differences in the culture of how cover letters are written for Korean employers in Korea versus what a cover letter's purpose is when composed for a western employer in the west? I am thinking in particular about when one addresses a contact in a university department.
I heard some things that are hard to believe, like how Koreans write about how they've always wanted that job since their childhood. I don't think that is appropriate on a cover letter but a Korean contact suggests it is standard. I think they're thinking about the case involving a very different kind of career.
Thanks in advance |

your Korean contact replied as to how he/she would write it - if you are a Westerner, then certainly the uni you are writing to would expect you to write in a different way, more or less.
other than mentioning experience in Korea, or other international experience, just write it the way you normally would for such a professional position. |
