|

A disturbance at a local restaurant when one man got upset that an all-you-can-eat fish fry didn't live up to its name.
At 6'6" and 350 lbs, Bill Wisth admits he's a big guy who can pack it away more than most. And he wants one restaurant to make all-you-can-eat, all he can eat too.
"It's false advertising," said Wisth to TODAY'S TMJ4.
Wisth has a beef with the all-you-can-eat fish fry at Chuck's Place. He was there Friday when the restaurant cut him off after he ate a dozen pieces.
"Well, we asked for more fish and they refused to give us any more fish," recalled Wisth.
The restaurant says it was running out of fish and patience; arguing Bill has been a problem customer before. They sent him on his way with another eight pieces, but that still wasn't enough.
He was so fired up, he called the police. "I think that people have to stand up for consumers," said Wisth.
And he wasn't done. He came back two days later with a picket sign.
Elizabeth Roeming is a waitress there and says they've tried to work with Bill over the years -- like letting him have a tab he still hasn't paid off.
And customers are running to the restaurant's defense, even interrupting TODAY'S TMJ's interview to give Bill their two cents.
Bill isn't backing down, saying his fish fry fight isn't over. But in the end, even he had something nice to say.
"They do have like some of the best pizza in town if you like deep dish pizza," said Wisth.
Bill Wisth says he will picket every Sunday until the restaurant rethinks what happened.

On a sidenote, is anyone else comforted by the sight of obese people at a buffet? If I see a lot of them, I know that it's probably at least a good deal and quite likely good food. |

No, not at all. They are obese, enough said.
The concept of a buffet is nice enough I suppose, but the majority of buffets are such a terrible experience given the general quality of the food.
I also think that the increasingly overdone concept of "all you can eat" promotes an unhealthy relationship with food.
My family (mainly my dad) loved both buffets and all you can eat. So I got to see a lot of this mess. |

I dont care how fat he is. The restaurant says all you can eat, then they need to be held to it.
Frankly, I am sick of false advertising.
What that restaurant deserves is weekly meetings by bulimics anonymous. |

Many restaurants like this are writing a limit under the "all-you-can-eat" advertisement due to this. Usually a time limit. |

Life imitating art (if you consider The Simpsons art). I wonder if this guy is just a big fan of the Simpsons and is trying to recreate the magic of season four. |

I agree, in theory, but this man accounted for 20 fish by himself and still wasn't happy.
It also sounds like the restaurant has had a number of problems with this customer. A restaurant should have the right to turn away customers. |

I wonder if he'll change his name to "Bottomless Pete" and try and cash in as 'Nature's Cruelest Mistake'.

'Tis a remorseless eatin' machine'. All you can eat buffets must surely be a contributing factor to obesity epidemic in the States. The UK has cut out happy hours in pubs as a means of combating drink-related problems. Perhaps the USA needs to adopt something similar... |

Does it work though?
I think it has more to do with people not being educated on healthy food and everything being made out of corn because of the government's subsidy on it. Also fat people are lazy shits. |

That last sentence was awesome. I'd use that as my signature if it was allowed. |

Well, I'm convinced it's the truth. I'm kinda lazy, I eat a lot of crappy stuff, I pig out at buffets but I'm not fat because I actually work out and balance it out by eating fresh veggies. I was on the other side of the spectrum once and it was because I was a lazy shit. |

I'm not much for buffets, although the one across from the school has shrimp tempura, boiled shrimp, sashimi and crab soup. And, ummm, fruits and vegetables. It costs W12,000. They serve stuff I really like so I'm an occasional customer. It's not fried chicken and pork chops.
I love fish. I'd like to see the size of those 20 pieces. (He was cut off after 12 pieces) I might consider it to be an appetizer. I'm 186 cm tall and weigh 92 kg. You can draw your own conclusions about that. You can eat as little or as much as you like (at most places). It's up to you. |

Fish, or sea food, isn't filling for some people. He's a big dude and he wanted to eat all he could eat. I'm 6'3 and 290. I can put away fish too. Steak? no way, I'm miserable after a 10 oz steak and some potatoes.
If he still has a tab then he shouldn't be allowed in the restaurant until he pays his bill. |
