I'm looking for a light rain jacket I can wear in the spring/summer/fall for hiking. I just want something small I can keep in my backpack when I'm hiking that I can throw on if it starts to pour. I already have a good winter rain jacket, but it's too bulky and hot for the summer.
I live in a small town, and when I've gone into some of the hiking stores here, the prices I see seem ridiculous. The only department store we have is E-Mart, so I'll take a look there, but I'd appreciate any suggestions of where I could find one. I don't want to buy one on the net because I'd rather try it on first.
Does Costco carry any? If so, maybe I'll wait until the next time I head into the city. I don't care what brand it is, as long as it's a decent, light jacket that ideally is less than 100,000 won.

Thanks for any suggestions

Go to HomePlus for better varieties and cheaper prices.

If you want really good quality, you can find tons of hiking stores (that often have sales) like North Face, Kolon Sports, Black Yak, etc~ If they have a sale, you can get really nice things for cheap... if not, I agree... go to Emart/HomePlus or go to a department store. There are lots of "cheap department stores" and also department stores will often have outside vendors or mosh-pit vendors (first floor and basement) that sell brand-name (but last season, *gasp shock*) really cheap ^.^

Unless it's gore-tex it will only stay dry for 45 mins.

A 3,000 won plastic poncho will work great and cover your bag.

You might want to check the online hiking/outdoor retailers in the US. They are having sales right now. I doubt you'll get a decent soft shell for that price shipped to Korea, but whatever you buy will outlast the cheaper gear by years.

Okay, thanks for all the replies. I checked our 1 department store in town (E-Mart), but they've got a tiny selection. I'll take a look online at some of the American shops and if I don't find anything there, I'll stop in at a HomePlus next time I'm in a bigger city.
