I've been trying to find more information on Yatap through the Google searches but haven't found very much. I feel like most people mainly talk about Seohyun or Jeongja. Does anyone live/work around this place or know people who do? Can you give more specifics about what it's like? I think I've seen pictures of a Homeplus, but that's about it. Are there parks/trails nearby? Is it safe around here? What's the quickest way to Seoul from Yatap Station? (I lived in Seoul previously.) Thanks for your help! |

I've been living in Yatap since 2010. To sum up Yatap I would have to say it's definitely not the most happening place but it's very convenient living here especially if you live right near the station because there's pretty much everything you need there.
It's pretty quiet and clean and very residential. There aren't many interesting places, and the restaurant/ bar scene is just average (mostly older Koreans hang out in Yatap so there's tons of noraebangs and older people clubs). If you want to actually have a decent night out near here I would suggest Moran, Seohyun or Jeongja which are all less than 10 minutes away by subway.
On the positive side, Yatap is a great place to live in Bundang because the Seongnam Bus station is located here. You can get to almost everywhere in Korea from the bus station. I've gone from Yatap to Incheon in only 50 minutes from the bus station, a trip which takes over an hr and a half to 2 hours by subway.
Also, it's not super far to get to places in Seoul by subway. Personally, all my friends live in/ near Seoul so I travel to Seoul about 2-3 days a week. It takes me 30 minutes to Gangnam, 45 minutes to Sinsa, an hour to Myeongdong and about an hr and 10 minutes to get to Hongdae which isn't bad at all. Also there are tons of long distance buses into Seoul but I find they take almost the same time as subway. I've been to some other places in Seongnam/ Bundang area which were alot more boring, dirty, inconvenient as Yatap so I would say it's not a bad place to live at all. If you need anymore help/ info feel free to pm me. |

From what I can tell, Yatap is probably as safe as most other places in Korea. There's is this one alley way that is filled with older Koreans but other than it's the same as anywhere.
There are a few stores other than Homeplus so you have options. There's a movie theatre and a department store. The bar scene is a bit lacking but you can always go to other parts of bundang.
서현 and 정자 have more stuff but it's easy to get there from Yatap. You can get to and from Seoul via buses or by going to 서현 and taking a bus there. A lot of buses from 서현 go to Seoul. |

It's plenty safe. I don't know if the Bundang greenbelt extends to Yatap. Other than the HomePlus/CGV complex and some big wedding halls, there ain't much there, but it is close to places worth going. |

The whole Bundang area from Yatap down past Jeongja is quite nice. I really enjoyed living there.
Living in Seoul proper is pretty different though. |

I used to ride the Bundang line (Seolleung-Sunae) for a year and a half. Never got out at the Yatap station but I can tell you who got on and off the train there: ALL the pretty girls on the train! So in my fantasies, Yatap is some kind of erotic paradise or a parking spot for minor wives and/or room salon girls. You may feel comfortable there, in my fantasy. |
