Simple total newbie question not FAQ'd - what should the kids call you to get your attention?

In the UK kids call their teacher "Sir" or "Miss" - sounds good to me... Although having the students call out "Oh Wise and Masterful Leader" does have a certain ring to it...

Most students will call you "teacher" regardless of what you tell them to call you.

? If I bump into any Korean people who speak
English with a Welsh accent I know who taught them Very Happy I'll never forget the Chinese guy I met in Middle-of-nowhere-Manchuria who had a Brummie accent!

They call you Teacher? I should have thought of that. D'oh!
I'm sure I'll pick up some interesting Korean swear words too while my backs turned.

Hope I can make the adjustment.

7 months and my first name only (or my nickname "Ramyen").

Not an ounce of respect even once.

You've really gotta insist on the respect if you want to get it. At my school the kids generally call me Miss Peppermint Wink, though sometimes it's teacher. When they call me by just my first name, I growl at them.

When I was in elementary school, as far as I was concerned ALL my teacher's first names were Miss, Mr. or Mrs.

Agree with Peppermint. Make them do what you want. You are the boss.

I'm called, quite literally, and I kid you not, "Knife Teacher" by students and other teachers. It's got a very Gurney Hallek or Kzinti feel to it.

I think being called Miss Katydid is a bit silly but I insist they call me that or Katydid-teacher or Katydid-seonsaengnim. I really appreciate the girls who immediaqtely chirp a "Hello Miss Katydid" at me, but give those who say "Hi, Katydid." a second chance to correct themselves. They see the storm clouds roll in and 99 percent of the time it becomes "Hi Katydid.......teacher."

They have to call you something respectful. You can be friendly with your students, but you should never have them treat you as one of their friends.

You guys are lucky! All I get is 'waygookin seonsaengnim' or the Daegu-ism of 'waygookin saem'. New school for me, though. Everytime that I try to teach them 'Craig', they default to the closest sounding word already in their minds, 'Craa-zy?'. Smile
