How long can you stay in the country after your visa has expired? Thanks for any info. Rosewood.

You can't. The moment the visa has expired you've overstayed which means fines, possible detention, and possible denial of a new visa in the future. Rosewood.

My husband forgot to renew his F2 visa, resulting in his working for 2 weeks without a visa. Yesterday he went down to immigration, paid a 100,000won fine, renewed it, and no problem.

If you know you are going to overstay you can get an extension from immigration.

Thank you so much. I was under the false impression that I had two weeks to leave the country following the expiry date of my visa. I was ablsolutely positive (oops).

That is if you have left the employment of a school and that is for an E2 visa. Smile

Sadsac: I have an E2 visa. Both my contact & visa expire on the 18th of July. Do you mean that my E2 visa requires that I definitely leave the country on or before the 18th? I'm uncertain of what your post means.
Tks, Rosewood

If your visa expires July 18th, you must leave the country on or before that day.

If you need a couple of extra days to get organized before you leave, you need to go to immigration with your plane ticket and get an extension for those days.

Rose: this is not a flame, but....

After 5 years in Japan & 2 years in S. Korea, and seeing this kind of post about 3 dozen times(usually by university educated people), I just gotta ask....
