Has anyone got any idea what this is? I've called a couple of times and they said ANY work outside of Korea counted. Or what docs I'd need to prove this? I worked at two unis outside of Korea, so I'm hoping I could use that to get 5 points.

I asked about this the last time I was at immigration in February. The officer told me it had to be teaching experience. So my 6 years as a scientific observer for the the NZ government was not able to get me any points.

You should double-check this by calling the Immigration hotline (1345), but my understanding is that it's work experience that's directly related to your higher education. If you have a degree in teaching EFL such as an MA TESOL, and you taught EFL overseas, that should qualify.

Check your PMs for more about your situation I think you'll find interesting.

Makes no sense. The F2-7 is not necessarily a teaching visa. It's a residence visa, and you don't even have to be a teacher to qualify for it.

I've been told that the experience must be related to the job you are doing in Korea. If we assume that kiwikid is a teacher then it makes sense. If you're doing some job other than teaching then obviously the standards will be different, but for the majority of people reading this site (teachers) it's correct.

I asked and they said even McDonald's would count Smile I have teaching experience and an MA in TEFL. So maybe I could get it'? NOw I just need level 1 Korean.

Still have no idea what docs I need. Since last time I called, they said they didn't know.

I haven't tried it myself, but if Immigration isn't telling you there's a specific form, I'd try giving them letters of reference from your former employers/volunteer organizations that include the dates you worked for them. Make sure the letters are on company letterhead, and in either English or Korean.

Good luck!

yeah, I'll have to try that. Hope they don't say they have to be less than 6 months old. I just have to study for the TOPIK then if they accept KOTESOL as volunteer experience and TEFl as overseas experience.

I have a computer science Bachelor's Degree, and 5 years experience as a programmer and project manager at a large company. But, I am a teacher here... If I get an F visa, I will get back to programming, independantly at home.

I wonder if I would qualify for 5 points there.. hmmm. That gets me to 76...

age 30-34 --> 25
bachelor's degree --> 10
korean proficiency --> 20
salary --> 5 points
culture class --> 10 points
korean language program --> 1 points
-------------
71 + 5 points for work experience?

Bachelors is more than 10 points. Also, KOrean language has to be done at unis. If you do the one through a hagwon or the migrant centre, which incidentally has the KIIP programme, it doesn't count.

Have you already completed the KIIP?

According to the Point System Evaluation Table I'm looking at
(amended on Sept. 1.2011) a bachelor's degree is worth 26 points.

Where did you hear that it was only worth 10 points? If the point system
table has been changed after Sept. 1.2011, could you please let us
know? (along with a verification link to your source)

Oh... sorry.. I just came across this link:
http://recruiterinkorea.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/20100517001096_01.jpg?w=300&h=210
that you posted in another thread. But the table is too small for me to view. I can't read the point values at all. Anyway, that's not a link to
an immigration site, right?

Thanks!
