Hi guys, hope someone can put me at ease here.
I am a public school teacher who arrived in May 2011 but extended my contract by 3 months to put my finishing date to August 2012. I have received a notice in the post that my visa is about to run out and that I must renew or extend it, which is the norm. However, my passport is going to expire in July 2012. Obviously I should have should have been aware of that potential issue a long time ago but I have been distracted with such a busy schedule.
I am a UK citizen which is not easy as we have to send the documents to hong kong then it goes to the UK again and back which takes a month. I'm worried that I will be told at immigration that they wont stamp my ARC or update my Visa for the reason that my passport will not be valid after July (1 month before my contract ends).
I'm going tomorrow to see if immigration can stamp me for now, in the meantime, I would appreciate it if anyone can put my mind at ease or offer any advice.
Thanks guys. |

There is no rest for the wicked and no good news for you.
You cannot extend beyond the expiry date of your passport.
You cannot stay in the country with an invalid/expired passport.
I do not know if you can get an extension (on the amendment page of your passport) from the UK embassy to tide you over pending the arrival of your new passport.
Apply now. You still have 36 days. Pray that it makes it before you expire.
