Hey guys,
I'm planning to quit my public contract at six months.
Does anyone know if I can collect the pension I've accrued? And if so, is the process any different than when you finish a contract?
thanks all

Assuming you are considered an employee and they at least registered you as an employee, then you can start the process of getting it back. However, if you plan on staying in Korea, working at least, then they won't give you the money.
It is something you collect when you plan on leaving the country. If you are going to stay on a tourist visa, then you would have 30 days added, which I guess would still allow you to start the process but they may want to see flight arrangements out of Korea anyway.
If your school hasn't registered you or hasn't been paying into it, then you need to square that away. Go to the pension office and check your balance. I am guessing you would be owed about 1,000,000 won. If it is less than 800,000 then I would be concerned.
When you start the process, you can have them transfer money to your Korean account or have them send it to your home bank account. |
