I'm leaving Korea (permanently?) this summer. I'll be traveling to SE Asia and then swinging back through Korea for a couple of days before I fly to the States.

My ARC is actually valid through the summer, so I could keep it during my jaunt to SE Asia and then hand it in when I leave Korea en route to the USA. But I'm wondering whether this would slow down my pension refund? If so, would it be better to hand in my ARC as I leave for SE Asia and then stamp back into Korea for those last couple of days as a tourist?

Thoughts?

I don't think the Pension Office and Immigration share information so you could probably keep your ARC until you finally leave Korea. Flashing your ARC might make it faster to re-enter through Border Control.

As far as I know, you just need to show the Pension Office your flight ticket out of Korea.

Hand in your ARC as you leave through passport control at the end of your employment.

It will ensure there are no issues when you pass through Korea on your way home (like if your employer calls immigration to cancel your status and you try to come through on your ARC it will cause confusion and delays when you come back).
