Remember user MC_JC? You know, the guy who claimed all sorts of acts of valor and later died in Afganistan saving other soldiers? Well, I think I may have found him on TV:

The evidence that "America's Got Talent" contestant Timothy Poe failed to tell the truth about his military service continues to mount.

As TMZ reports, a photo of a soldier shown during Poe's audition is not Poe at all, but rather a different soldier altogether.

Staff Sgt. Norman Bone -- the man who's actually pictured in the photo -- contacted the website to set the record straight. And he's not happy about the case of mistaken identity.

"First thing that came to my mind was 'Why would this lying son of a bitch do this?'" Bone, who serves in El Paso, Texas, told TMZ. "I'm absolutely furious. Been seeing red all day."

The latest revelation adds further fuel to speculation that Poe is embellishing his military record.

During his audition, Poe claimed that he sustained brain damage that left him with a speech impediment from a grenade blast while serving. However, a spokesman for the Minnesota National Guard refuted Poe's claim, saying that, while Poe did serve his country overseas, there is no record of the injury he described on the show.

"His military records indicate that he served with the Minnesota National Guard in Kosovo from Oct. 10, 2007 until July 15, 2008, and was deployed to Afghanistan from July 28, 2009 to Aug. 30, 2009," Minnesota National Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Kevin Olson said in a statement. "Sgt. Poe's official military records do not indicate that he was injured by a grenade in combat while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, as he reports. The Minnesota National Guard can also confirm that he was not awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds sustained in combat."

Poe has maintained that his story is true.

Watch Poe's audition -- complete with use of the photo, at approximately the 1:12 mark -- below.

I thought MC JC's death was a hoax perpetrated by himself?

Where did you hear that?

If so it makes sense. After the initial news broke that he had been killed I checked the publicity website of his base.
They keep an updated commentary of attacks and also publish obituaries for soliders K.i.a.
But I couldn't find any mention of him or the incident as described.

The thread proclaiming his death was very strange. The poster claimed to be in the army with MCJC and in Afghanistan at the time. According to the writer, MCJC was killed just a few days prior in a rocket attack. The poster was a new member to Daves, no connection to Korea, and his join date was just a day or two before MCJC's alleged death. He was called out on these things, yet never replied. I cant find the thread now.

My name is George Gordon, a collegue of James Cooke (aka mc_jc), who had worked with James during his assignment in South Korea.

It is with great sadness and regret to inform people that James H. Cooke was killed during a rocket attack on Kandahar AFB on May 1st, 2011.

James was a good man who did a lot of good for the country.

He joined the DIA in 2001 right after the 9/11 terror attacks and was assigned in South Korea from 2003 to 2010 before being reassigned to Afghanistan to participate in the defense surge in southern Afghanistan that started in June, 2010.

James will be buried at St. Peters Cemetery in Danbury, Connecticut with full military honors.

I can't find any record of his death on this site (go to page 12):

If I remember correctly, mc claimed to be a military civilian, having gotten out of the army. Therefore, he wouldn't show up on any of those lists. His name (and obit) would pop up in a google search, possibly archived in his hometown newspaper.

1. If you recall, MC JC also claimed his close friend and another user on Daves, Lestat, also died. In hindsight, he was the same guy.

2. The base website noted nothing unusual the day he died.

3. There was no rocket attack that day.

4. I called the funeral home he was supposed to be at and they had no idea who or what I was talking about.

I can't believe how big a d-bag you have to be to claim that you died while rescuing other soldiers/civilians.

There should be a special place in hell for those that claim lies about their involvement with military service. In this world, the federal Stolen Valor Act punishes such liars.

That's dedication, man. I'd say it was sad that you felt the need to do so about someone on an internet forum, but let's just leave it at dedication.

MC-JC was most famous for publicizing his supposed income as some type of military contractor and sharing with the posters of Dave's Cafe the latest North Korean intel he gleaned after playing poker with top ranking US military officials in Korea.

A controversial figure, he was one of my favorite posters on Dave's, if anything because I love a good nutter.

Sorry to hear his persona was killed off in a rocket attack in Afghanistan.

MC-JC: I miss you!

The funny thing was, he'd post something about his military knowledge/experience, other posters would come on and rip his credibility to shreds, and then he'd be back the next day posting the same kinda BS all over again, as if the previous day's shredding had never happened.

But he maintained a pretty loyal following of readers, most of whom(myself included) were tuning in just to see what kind of nuttiness he'd post next. My favorite was when he said Canada had fought in the Vietnam War, as part of something called "the Commonwealth Contingent".

The post letting everyone know he died also had the name of the funeral parlor. I called them and asked how I could send flowers. They said that no one fitting his name or description was planned or had been there for weeks. So that makes me "strange?" Rolling Eyes

I'm not surprised you can't get a job back home, but it's a wonder why Koreans bother to employ you.
