| Several times in the last year I have been in Itaewon and have been approached by different South East Asian women who ask me to help carry a stuffed sports bag to a nearby location. The first time I agreed automatically, but the mental scam alarm bells started ringing - and friends who were with me felt the same way - so I made an excuse after 100 metres or so. Each time after this I've refused. It happened again today. Does anyone know the details of how this is supposed to play out, what the scam is? |

| There were a few cases of older Koreans using this on younger people, especially women last year. They would try to guilt trip them into helping them out with loading a bag or something, take them to their car and try to kidnap/rob them. |

They're trying to get someone to carry a vehicle down an alley. |

| if you could get 3 or 4 people together you could run a little sting to figure out what the scam is. They're probably not that smart so a person walking across the road and one on the same side and someone a bit far off with a zoom lens probably wouldn't tip them off, have someone accept and have the others slowly follow them, snap a few pictures, and if they lead the person down an ally, just have the other people casually walk down as well. Bail if they lead you into a non-public building. |

Depends how close you want to get with the camera, unless you want to go hidden camera. |

What's suspicious about a small woman asking someone to help them carry a big bag? Unless they're all giving him the same location, and it's unlikely that they're telling him the truth about where they're going, the story is "in a giant metropolitan city at different times people have come up to me and asked me to help them carry a heavy bag. Each time I've declined and carried on about my day. "
It's still a pretty weak story.
If there was something common to all this, the same bag, them naming the same location, the same woman, you might have something a little more tangible. If you took some quality photos of these individuals, and got some idea of where they were leading you, you might have something you could take to the police that they could actually work with.
Otherwise all you're giving the police is a couple of vague asian women in Korea wanted help carrying a big bag.
I'm sure they'll be able to do wonders with that. |
