Hello,
Anyone have luck combining mileage for Delta and Korean Air? I'm most interested in using my miles for a free ticket at some point. I have 27130 miles on skymiles (delta) and 9020 miles on skypass (Korean).
I've never actually used my miles for anything, so I don't know how to do it. I'm not asking for a tutorial, I'm just commenting that the airlines are increasingly confusing.
also, any tips on getting the airlines/partner airlines to actually credit your miles automatically? it's an absolute bear to deal with getting credit, which really shouldn't even be a problem when your skymiles number is printed right there on the eticket/itinerary/receipt and on the boarding pass. It should be automatic and it's totally not. It seems I get credit for totally arbitrary flight segments. kinda sad to look at my skymiles acct and realize how many flights I've not gotten credit for, and the 9 month window has lapsed. |

I'm sure you can. Delta and Korean Air are both members of Sky Team and are partner airlines. |

If they can screw you, they will.
I just flew Air France (member of Sky Team with Korean). However, even though it was a code share, and they are the same "team" they refused to give me full miles because my ticket was with Air France and it was a Korean Air aircraft |

I don't think you can. When Ansett, a Star Alliance (SA) member was going bust, it was made clear that mileage wasn't transferable to other SA airlines.
But most programs now allow 1 way rewards, so you could book a 1 way with the mileage from one program and back with the alternate program. |

I had Singapore Air miles and tried to transfer them to Asiana. Asiana said no, but I was able to use the Sing miles to get a free flight on Asiana (same Star Alliance group).
So you could do that, build up your points until you have a free ticket and use it on the other airline (in the same group). |

If American Express still offers 30k for spending 2k $ in the first 3 months, get it. I did that twice and earned two international roundtrip tickets over the course of 3 years |

Also, when you book an airline ticket on Koreans Airline, you should use the frequent flier number for the Delta account. I think it's equivalent mileage in that case. That works for most mileage on partner airlines of different carriers and groups, although you may not always get 100%. |
