Has anyone ever taught primary school in the UK?

If you have, what was it like?

I would be particularly interested to hear was it easy to live on a teacher's salary there, work conditions etc etc.

I have a few friends who've done it, two of which have been there for years. I've visited. They get by money-wise, enough to travel on their breaks and pay down a bit of debt. Not living like a king of course, but London is a world-class city.
