Yes, you heard that right. Creationist Kent Hovind, who denies evolutionary biology, actually kind of accepts it. He just doesn't realize it, and calls it by another name. Watch this excellent video by Potholer54.
Curious as to your response.

Ah, yes, the guy who has no accredited diplomas, and certainly not a diploma for the field in which he's pretending to be an expert. He's a know-nothing. On top of that, he's dishonest. That's my response. |

The main points, and all the side-angles to the whole creation-evolution debate has been done to death so many times on here that I've lost interest in repeating myself over and over to people who's positions are entrenched, for mods to simply delete over and over.
What was interesting was the dino side-debate..but that got zapped as well...so... |

Says the believer in the unchanged, two to three thousand year-old "theory." |

Rteacher returns!
And Cremo, a man with admittedly zero science education, has the last word in a year-old interview where he espouses the virtues of his now 19 year-old book whose premise is that modern man and his technology have existed for billions of years and that there's a huge conspiracy theory in place to cover up this fact... |

I know evolution can't be true. When I see the way animals act and the way people behave we are far behind them. |

Real understanding of evolution is beyond the realm of material science as a totally conscious person is the source of everything, and pure consciousness is not material. Transcendental Vedic philosophy affords a better perspective for understanding total reality, including the multifarious purposes that evolution serves. http://www.mahaprabhu.net/satsanga/Newsletters/Harmonizer_December_2011.pdf |

Yeah, there may be some limited "progressive" understanding, but even that is tentative, and the material world is only temporarily manifested. Ultimate reality is ever-existing, while death, in the final analysis, is a product of the illusory energy that bewilders conditioned souls karmically-bound to this realm by their impure desires. When material desires are purified (i.e., through bhakti yoga) one can transcend the evolutionary cycle of birth-and-death in different species and attain unlimited happiness in the spiritual universe that comprises most of total reality (75% to be exact, according to Vedic sources). From this point of view, the goal of evolution is not material survival; rather it's attainment of our original spiritual form beyond birth and death. |

When I seriously practiced Krishna consciousness/bhakti yoga I felt myself becoming more detached from material desires and more attached to transcendental sounds and forms. After some advancement on the devotional path, however, it becomes very difficult to reach the perfectional stage of consciousness in this lifetime unless one is resolutely determined to avoid getting drawn back into the powerful illusion of material enjoyment. Although I try to keep some spiritual focus by regularly chanting (and occasionally presenting my understanding of Vedic philosophy), I'm a long way from having real spiritual vision. In the beginning, hearing transcendental knowledge from the right source(s) is the key to making any advancement, but one has to be receptive, which is usually not the case when one's consciousness is too materially absorbed - especially in bad-karmic activities like meat-eating, intoxication, illicit sex, and gambling. Of course, avoiding any sex outside of procreation is deal-breaker for most people, but total immersion in the bhakti yoga process does seem to redirect consciousness for as long as one can strictly follow devotional principles. Otherwise, whatever spiritual progress is made in this life is the point from which we start again in our next life.
Even the famous "Beatle", George Harrison, experienced some advancement in Krishna consciousness ... http://www.krsnabook.com/george/ |
