People complain about how gloomy everyone looks in Korea walking around the streets. I propose everyone smile for a whole day and see what happens. What kind of reactions do you get? Please tell us here if anything different happens.

I always smile when talking to Koreans. It gets you a lot more help if you need it and a really warm response. And it's FREE.

As a dog, I must smile at people so they don't eat me when I'm in Korea with my master/owner. He takes care of me pretty good though, two pig ears everyday and at least three milkbones in addition to my IAMS.

I smile a lot. But all it does is seems to be an invtation to every freak and horny guy to come on to me. Although perhaps the plunging neck lines have something to do with it?

For a large group there isn't a whole lot of smiling going on. One guy on the phone seems happy, and the ajumah in the back is clearing happy getting somebody's attention, but the rest look pretty down.

I see only one person in the photo who is on a cellphone. Are you sure that's Korea?

Smiling is the best equalizer to the language barrier that there is.

You might not be able to communicate easily with language, but a smile says it all.

I hate the days when I can't get a genuine smile going, because the children know the difference.

Smiling is contagious. If I smile, the kids smile, and if they smile, I smile. WONDERFUL!!!!!

There's always something to smile about, even if it's more of a Grinch- esque grin as you plot the downfall of your current school. . Twisted Evil

I used to show my pearly whites before I realized I was actually giving a gimchi smile.

(I now understand the Korean reluctance to smile at strangers.)
