Hey all.
My brother got this really cool offer to work somewhere. He asked me to help him check if the messages he got was really from where the people said they are.
Is there some way to see if someones IP is actually from said country?
I tried tracking-IP-websites...no luck whatsoever...
Thanks for any help.

was the offer from an e-mail? if it was, you can check the e-mail header to see detailed information from the sender like ip addresses. you can then check the ip address with a site like network-tools.com. while headers can be manipulated so that it can be seen as if it was from someone else, you can just contact the company's recruiting dept. if you want to be absolutely sure |

IF you have the IP of the user you can use something like this to tell where they are, who the ISP is and sometimes their address rather than just their home city.
http://cqcounter.com/whois/
eg:
IP Address: 1.251.20.***
Host: 1.251.20.***
Location: KR, Korea, Republic of
City: ******
Organization: SK Broadband Co Ltd
ISP: SK Broadband Co Ltd
AS Number: AS9871 Gyeong Sang Buk-Do *********
Latitude: 3700'00" North
Longitude: 12750'00" East
**** edited for privacy reasons.
As mentioned above, the e-mail headers will also have a lot of information unless they are using a web based service like gmail or yahoo.

I also like spypig .
By attaching a invisible little pic to an email. When every somebody opens it, the IP is tracked and a message is sent to you. You will get some strange results. The first message will usually be your own. Sometimes it does not work because the receiver email client or service will not load the picture. |
