I've got an old buddy from my army days coming to visit me while he's vacationing in Korea.
He loves his vodka. Personally, I enjoy a good beer.
I prefer not to spend the money on a full bottle of vodka just to pour him a few drinks, since the rest would go to waste. And I don't think he'd enjoy the taste of the cheaper vodkas that are available (Mix Vodka and Commander Vodka).
Is there a store in Seoul that sells mini bottles of vodka? |

I've seen them at the big supermarkets in Seoul. I have also seen them in the little liquor store near Jonggak station. Go out exit 2 and go straight about 20m. It's on your left. |

Many convenience stores sell individual bottles of Jack Daniels, Absolut, Bacardi--typical low-premium liquors. They often keep them behind the counter (not always).
You can get a liter of Grey Goose for a manageable price at Costco. Makes for a fun weekend. |

Is he particular about his vodka, or does he approach vodka in the same way that a middle-aged Korean man approaches soju? If the latter, just get a bottle of commander vodka or some other bottom-shelf brand from Emart for like 7,000 won and then use whats left of it to sanitize your toilet. |

Kangnam station, exit 12, right by the exit there you will find a liquor store that sells the airport-sized bottles of liquor like you may be looking for. |

The thriftiness of some people here is absolutely astounding. You can pick up a big bottle of absolute in any decent sized convienience store for like 40,000. |

It's not about thriftiness. Everyone knows you pay more per milliliter for buying small bottles. It's about convenience and stealth. |

Well, I can understand if he lives in a small apartment. But, yeah...There was this one guy who was looking for advice on how to mill leftover bits and pieces of soap into a new larger bar. |

Well if a good buddy who I hadn't seen in a while was coming over to Korea I wouldn't mind dropping a few won for a bottle of their favorite drink. I probably was a little out of line with the OP.
It's just that some people are incredibly stingy and tight with their cash here and it just drives me demented. Anyways, I'm derailing this thread, have a good time with your mate OP. |

This is kind of random and not sure how many you are looking to buy...but typically the family mart/gs25/7-11 stores have a few. My local one had 3 original absolute, and 2 others of absolute with flavor. Might have to visit a few various locations...
That said, if you are worried about buying a full sized bottle and it going to waste, I would be more than happy to take whats remaining off your hands free of charge, and can assure you it wouldn't go to waste |

Will he be the only person who drinks vodka to ever visit? Otherwise you could keep it for further visitors, or:
1. To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka. The solvent dissolves the adhesive. This also applies to sticky stickers on appliances and bottles.
2. To clean the caulking around bathtubs and showers, fill a trigger-spray bottle with vodka, spray the caulking, let set five minutes and wash clean.
The alcohol in the vodka kills mold and mildew.
3. To clean your eyeglasses, simply wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth dampened with vodka. The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass and kills germs.
4. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka and letting your safety razor blade soak in the alcohol after shaving. The vodka disinfects the blade and prevents rusting.
5. Spray vodka on vomit stains, scrub with a brush, then blot dry.
6. Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to cleanse the skin and tighten pores.
7. Add a jigger of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo. The alcohol cleanses the scalp, removes toxins from hair, and stimulates the growth of healthy hair.
8. Fill a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle and spray bees or wasps to kill them.
9. Pour one-half cup vodka and one-half cup water in a Ziplock freezer bag, and freeze for a slushy, refreezable ice pack for aches, pain, or black eyes..
10. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar with freshly packed lavender flowers, fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly and set in the sun for three days. Strain liquid through a coffee filter, then apply the tincture to aches and pains.
11. Make your own mouthwash by mixing nine tablespoons powered cinnamon with one cup vodka. Seal in an airtight container for two weeks. Strain through a coffee filter. Mix with warm water and rinse your mouth. Don't swallow.
12. Using a q-tip, apply vodka to a cold sore to help it dry out.
13. If a blister opens, pour vodka over the raw skin as a local anesthetic that also disinfects the exposed dermis.
14. To treat dandruff, mix one cup vodka with two teaspoons crushed rosemary, let sit for two days, strain through a coffee filter and massage into your scalp and let dry.
15. To treat an earache put a few drops of vodka in your ear. Let set for a few minutes. Then drain. The vodka will kill the bacteria that is causing pain in your ear.
16. To relieve a fever, use a washcloth to rub vodka on your chest and back as a liniment.
17. To cure foot odor, wash your feet with vodka.
18. Vodka will disinfect and alleviate a jellyfish sting.
19. To remove cigarette smoke in your home or office mix one part vodka and three parts water and spray the clothing, then launder and let dry.
20. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the urushiol oil from your skin.
21. Swish a shot of vodka over an aching tooth. Allow your gums to absorb some of the alcohol to numb the pain.
22. Mix with tomato juice and invite me over |

Cool info Justin...thx! Yeah, it seems that Korea attracts the tightest people around. Buy a half litre of grey goose or another good quality vodka and treat your friend right. If there's anything left over, keep it for your next guess or give it to someone you know. It's not as if you can't find drinkers in Korea or anything! Sheesh! |
