Hi,
I'm in the process of returning to Korea. I already worked there for a year and a half. Now I'm in Canada and I just got my visa issuance number today. My future school is telling me to set up an interview with the Korean Consulate.
I'll be sending my passport and application to them tomorrow. Do I really need to have another interview with them?
I already did an initial interview with them when I was going over to Korea the first time, and I did it in person because I was visiting Montreal (the closest Korean embassy to my home town).
I had heard from someone returning to Korea that they did not have to do a second interview upon returning. I really don't want to do the interview again. What's the point? It wasn't difficult, it was just really long and drawn-out and I found they asked a lot of silly, unimportant questions.
Am I going to have to do this again? |

As an American, I had to do an interview both times I applied for a visa... |

If you have committed some sort of immigration offense, like overstay a visa or work illegally, then you might have to have another interview.
If you get notice from the Consulate to come in then yea you might have to be interviewed. Check to see who is asking. Korean government or the school. The school could be all mixed up about the procedure and requirements. |

The current rule seems to be this: If the Korean Consulate that you use to obtain your visa requires an interview, then you will have to do an interview. It they don't, you won't.
Call them and ask. |

Interviews are at the discretion of the consulate involved.
Typically, for an E2, only the 1st application required an interview UNLESS there was an immigration violation recorded against you (otherwise visa runs for subsequent E2s would not be possible).
Chances are that you will NOT need another interview.
