Anyone know the process of doing this? Can I do it in the middle of my contract? Does my college have to apply for it or can I start the process myself? Any links or info is greatly appreciated!  |

LOR in hand, and a visa run. Your college will have to apply for a visa confirmation number for the new visa.
No LOR then you need to leave the country, turn in your ARC to cancel your status of sojourn, return as a tourist and then the college applies for a new visa confirmation number and THEN you do a visa run to get the new visa.
To the best of my (not perfect) knowledge you cannot change from an E2 to an E1 while you are in the country.
