i've come back to the States and looking to possibly returning to Korea. With an F4 Visa, other than teaching, what other Jobs do most F4 Visa holders go into?

Wow such as general question. Can ya give us a hint of what you want or can do. I mean if you can speak Korean fluently with English you have more opportunities. If you have a degree in something desirable then once again more opportunities.

If you want you can be
1) A doctor if you have the qualifications
2) A prostitute if you are willing.
3) Business owner if you have the money and time to start one
4) A clerk
5) Military
6) Wife/Husband.

The sky is the limit.

Yes, I can speak Korean but most Koreans in Korea would know I was a born stateside. I have a Degree in Philosophy as well as Business from a Community College. My University is prestigious in America and a private top 25 school.

1) A doctor if you have the qualifications�lol no
2) A prostitute if you are willing�No
3) Business owner if you have the money and time to start one�this would be nice but my finances are in pretty bad shape
4) A clerk�? Law? That�s actually what I�m trying to get into but ran into some tough years
5) Military�definitely not, too old 30+
6) Wife/Husband�ugh, probably not

I hope that sheds a little more light on me. I consider myself a hardworking individual recovering from some serious tough times. I�ve been to Korea and came back only due to some seriously unforeseen challenges that I hope are behind me.

i never said i would never be a Teacher and i think my last post refers to ACTUALLY wanting to teach again

ah but again, other than Teaching i guess you could take it negatively


what i meant was other than Teaching after many, many years in Korea

i just wanted to see if others have moved on from Teaching or know of anyone else doing anything w/an F4 Visa since its almost like being a Korean citizen?

Yes people have moved on to better jobs. If you read more of the boards you would see various tales of people who found different jobs.

With a F-series visa people that I can think of right now.

One works for a Korean mineral companies. Worked at a Hagwon, got an MBA, married a Korean, and has a pretty cush job.

One married a Korean, open a bar and restaurant.

A guy from Singapore opened his own hagwon, if he teaches I do not know.

Another friend is married to a Korean, teaches Martial Arts, plus some English tutoring.

Another a contractor with US military.

The key point is if you take the risk, you can land or find a job different then English teaching. It will not be handed to you.

So what makes you special and how can you carve out a niche.

OP, I agree it is annoying. I would pay, grit your teeth and be nice. Do not make an enemy needlessly. Try to be helpful and easy to deal with. This situation can build a good impression. A good impression that could be helpful when you might need his help. Or if in some ways you welfare is in his hands.

You have an F4 visa just like me. It means that you can have a job in South Korea that isn't about teaching English. I'm planning to have another job in Korea in the next few years other than teaching English. So don't worry. You'll be fine.
