I also have my extra class skedded for the day. Razz Can you say puzzles and riddles? I can't imagine my kids woiuld want to learn anything very much today...

Being here at my job for only 3 months or so I would like to make a good first impression. All the other teachers have to be here too. They have to give 3 exams. I know what you must be thinking, why didn't they whine to the supervisor so they could take half-days? It doesn't work like that. I had things to do today and did them while here.
Maybe next year when I have built up more credibility, I will ask for the day off, but until now, I don't mind it so much.

i played that game for the first month and a half almost 2 years ago..........one day i simply asked, "do i really need to be here???"..................the answer was a quick "no".....exam days, sports testing days and all of the sort are now extra vacation days to me.....in may i had at least five.............a few more soming soon as well......just ask, it can't hurt.................sure some of you may think that i'm the ultimate slacker but, they have asked me back for a third year......obviously i am doing something right?!............teacher training courses, speech contest judging, public speeches to supervisors and newbies, you name it............i find that a little charm, humour and occassional soju drinking with co-workers go a long way...........

Must be a hell of a lot of charm, humour & drinking....

Just because they allow you to renew does NOT mean they don't resent you taking time off on an ad hoc basis. Even if you play by the rules, as I do, you are resented because of free Saturdays, single occupancy accommodation, etc. Don't kid yourself....

Your attitude, your privilige....

But someday you'll be replaced, voluntarily or not, & your replacement will have 2 strikes against him as the Korean teachers think "Here's another slack-ass, spoiled barbarian...."
