This may seem silly, but here goes. About 10 years ago, I got a ticket for underage possession of alcohol in Florida. The fine was 100 bucks. Naturally I just left and didn't pay it, and every once in a great while I get a form letter from that county in Florida saying that I'll be arrested if I go to Florida but I can avoid all that and go to Florida freely if I'll mail them a hundred bucks.
Since I have no plans to return to Florida for the foreseeable future, I am not eager to send them any money. However, will a BS mark on my record such as this one, and I'm assuming it will show up, bar me from getting a job in Korea? If so, and I just pay off the fine, will that clear things up? Perhaps someone has had a similar situation. |

Most probably, if that charge shows up on your FBI record check you will be denied a visa - whether you pay the fine or not. However, there's a decent chance that the county where the underage infraction occurred didn't report it to the FBI data base. |

I was under the impression that only offenses that you were fingerprinted for will show up on the CBC. I had a few no insurance tickets that I did not pay until recently that I am worried will show up on my CBC. |

EVERYTHING you get here will be nothing more than speculation.
GET your CBC then you will know if anything is there or not.
IF it comes back with, "No record found" then you are good as gold everywhere.
If it comes back with anything else then you will have to cross Korea off of your list and look for a new country.
Many countries are now asking for CBCs but in most cases (other than Korea) a state level check will suffice and if there is some misdemeanor on your state check, go to the next state over and get one - problem solved.

True, I have a ticket that was in collections that I recently paid off. I figured to wait a few weeks than start the process. Even though by the time I head to Korea it will be expired. |

Florida is treating it like a traffic fine. The FBI probably doesn't have it, but you won't know untill you get the CBC. Pay the hundred bucks and get your CBC and find out.
PS. Make sure you send a letter to the FBI stating you want the CBC notarized along with your CBC application page. It has to be notarized to be able to obtain an apostille. |

I didn't pay a tkt in Illinois I got while back on break one year, my license was a Wisconsin one. it was a moving violation, not a parking tkt.
turned out they suspended my license for nonpayment while I was overseas. I called them up one day and asked them how much to pay the tkt and who do I pay and they said your license was suspended for a year (or however long) and now it's been reinstated so you don't have to pay anything.
parking tkts I don't think any state lets them go - they just hold them in the system and if you ever try to register a vehicle in that state again they'll demand payment and/or tow your ass. |
