Starting July 1st, the Korean government is forcing Sony to shutdown PSN services in Korea for an indefinite period of time. http://kotaku.com/5919832/psn-store-shutting-down-temporarily-in-korea
Just my luck! I PURCHASED A YEAR SUB TO PLAYSTATION+ THE DAY BEFORE THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.
So I e-mail PlayStation support. I get an e-mail saying they can't refund me or park my account because I am using a US account abroad.
The Korean government needs to get rid of the idiots in the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and stop interfering with peoples' lives. |

You have got to be kidding me.
Are parents so inept that they cannot prevent their own children under the age of 16 from playing video games for 6 hours? No no no, let's let the government take care of it for us.
I visit the PSN store once a week for the updates (I'm also a + member), and I think this situation is absolutely ridiculous. |

Good question.
Although the Playstation servers aren't located in SK, since you have to log in to access the servers, I think the answer will be, no you can't.
My question now is; Is it the Korean PSN store being temporarily shut down, or is any IP address coming from Korea that attempts to access PSN going to be blocked? Bloopity Bloop, did the rep give you any info on this? |

Hrm. I use the American PSN by default, but sometimes need the Korean for using Korea-only download codes and what-not.
If they don't block the American PSN, I have little trouble with this. |

Phew!

Interestingly, the stores on the PS Vita, PSP, and PSN-equipped mobile devices will remain active. Nor will the North American, Asian, European or Japanese PSN stores will be blocked, so gamers with a bit of worldliness or the wherewithal to buy in foreign currencies can at least still do their gaming on those accounts. |
Bad grammar aside, this seems like good news.

That's what I was thinking too.
And the Korean store was fairly useless to me as is because of the fact you need a citizen number to sign up. |

Hrm, I have a download code for some free DLC and it's Korean. I take I'm screwed? I already tried in the American PSN and it's a no-go. Bah!
What I really don't get is that this is allegedly to prevent people less than sixteen years of age from playing for more than 6 hours a day, yet the Korean PSN is still up, only the store is closed. No one is prevented from playing games at all, just from getting anything from the Korean PSN Store. Gah! |
