Was asked to post this message too, but wasnt sure what discussion it would fall under so put it in general, sorry if thats wrong.

https://www.facebook.com/PandoraTheJindoIsStillMissing

Pandora the jindo is missing in nowon gu, she is very shy so please dont approach her as she will run away but if you could keep an eye out for her and phone the number if you think you have seen her it would be a great help. Both the people at the shelter she was originally rescued by and her adoptive family are desperately searching for her.

Pandora was rescued as a puppy and lived in shelters for most of her five years. Finally, in January 2012 she was adopted. It was a miracleuntil she escaped from her new home in northern Seoul. Pandora was last seen May 24 near 은행 사거리. A Korean volunteer has placed ads on angel.or.kr and animal.go.kr and is constantly checking websites. Theres a 500,000 won reward for her safe return.

500,000 for a dog? Wow, you'll get a response, for certain.

To Caregivers and Friends of Pandora,

Don't give up. You can find Pandora. She is out there and she is waiting for you. She is trying to get home.

I lost my own dog when I foolishly left her on a leash unattended for a few minutes in front of a grocery store (outside Korea). She was startled by low flying fighter jets, wriggled out of her collar (and therewith her name/phone tag) and took off while I was in the store. My house was a far 45 minute drive away.

My life turned completely upside down. I was already teaching full time. I launched a combination website / flyer search and busted my b*tt, driving all around the city putting up flyers and eliciting help from students and other friends to put flyers up everywhere.

It is very hard work. Not least of all psychologically because of all the ignorant people that will directly or indirectly say things like "It's just a dog, for heaven's sake" and "She probably wants to be free anyway" and "Wow, it's such a big joke that you lost your dog. Ha! Ha! Ha!" and "She's gone. It's a huge city. It's over. Get over it."

Well, screw those people. Your dog is out there, and she is trying to find you just like you are trying to find her.

I FOUND MY DOG AFTER NINE DAYS OF WORKING HER WEBSITE AND POSTING FLYERS LIKE A MADMAN DAY AND NIGHT. SHE WAS VERY HAPPY TO SEE ME AND COME HOME. She had run into a street many blocks away, been hit by a car (that drove away), and she had been taken in by a kind older woman (May God bless her forever) who found her lying in blood on the side of the street and took her into her modest home. A fourth-grade niece of the older lady came across one of the flyers and ran to her aunt's house.

Many people find their dogs after much longer times. DON'T GIVE UP! GO, GO, GO!

Check out another lady's video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnHUAeL3yWM

YOU CAN DO IT. DON'T GIVE UP ON PANDORA. SHE HASN'T GIVEN UP ON YOU.

Pablo

P.S. PM me if you would like to see how I set up the website to find my dog. It's under permissions now. One thing that is extremely useful is having a DOWNLOADABLE BILINGUAL FLYER than anyone online can print out from your website and post around their own neighborhood. The flyer should include your website address on it, so that anyone who sees the flyer outside can then go and print out their own copies of the flyer to post. The cycle keeps regenerating and eventually you have hundreds/thousands of people walking around who know about your dog when they see her. It's like a huge and ever-growing virtual hand combing the city to help find your dog.

P.P.S. People will tear down many of your flyers. JUST KEEP PUTTING MORE UP. YOU CAN FIND PANDORA.

Losing your dog, you find out quickly who your real friends are. The ashwholes of society also quickly identify themselves, on the street or on a forum.

also hope you find her!

I wrote the above because I also once had a rescue dog from a shelter - she had been picked up as a stray so was very much used to being on her own. first chance she'd get she'd take off running and gave me heart palpitations as she'd make a beeline across highways heading for a meadow or cow pasture just to frolic!!

you mentioning Pandora, and I still see her long ears flapping and tail wagging!

once we left her in a car with open windows because it was hot and sure enough, she took off and it was a couple weeks before we found her again - someone picked her up and offered to buy her!! she was beside herself when we arrived, never seen her so happy to see us!!

she lived a long and happy life -

I'd be willing to bet someone made a home for Pandora and she's there now so do keep posting your flyers, she'll turn up.
