I stay in Migeum, daily when i walk back in the evenings near these 4 storey apartments with basements there's a few places called bars/cafe- serving alcohol and coffee? The doors are usually closed and its not a noisy type-no loud music and all that stuff.
Anyone had experience in these places?
Thanks |

Just roll in, man. Give it a shot, how could it hurt? Maybe you'll find a bunch of soju swilling adjosshis stink eying you and talking shit about you in Korean (most likely situation). Drink one of Korea's fine assortments of ales or worldly appraised homegrown Korean bean coffees, then bounce. But, maybe you'll find an empty bar/cafe with a nice waitress who speaks a little English. Or, you might also find a group of young Bundang girls you can offer your charm to.
My first night here I swung into one of those "Texas" bars I've seen in multiple locations, and immediately realized, despite being very well traveled, what a twisted country I was in. Twenty drunk adjosshis and me. Looking, pointing, and laughing at me. Drank my beer, went to another bar in the neighborhood which was empty, chatted with the cute waitress for an hour, and thus began my understanding of how Korean men are generally protective and closed minded; and how Korean women are generally very giving and open minded. I'm using the terms "giving" and "open minded" in a generally comparative fashion. Many are not. No sense in not strolling in if you want some coffee or a beer, though. |

I'm not familiar with the area, but it sounds like you could be talking about Dabang. These are old style coffee places that are the home base of "coffee" delivery girls. You can just sit and have a drink, but an adjuma might come and sit with you to chat(if you can speak the language).
These places aren't overtly sexual, but there's something more going on there. They're more for old dudes than young men. Interesting places. I used to do my homework in one when I was studying Korean. |

I went into one of those places once... It was right next to my apartment and I figured, "why not?" The only person there was an old ajumma who *really* didn't understand why a foreign girl had come there... there was a picture of a naked woman (kind of like an old concubine?) on the wall and it was generally a weird vibe (though I was there during the day, lol). On the plus side, I got my tea for free ^.^ |
