Does anyone have any experience in Uljin?
I might have a job lead there.. Any information is appreciated. Nuclear power plant kind of sketches me out. |

I'm not going to be much help here but....I went there a couple of years ago and thought it was the best beach I've been to in Korea. Not many people (even on a holiday), the water was very clear. I went spear fishing, caught and ate the best seafood I've had in Korea (must be the nuclear nutrients). It didn't seem very built up. Pretty rural. It seemed nice to visit but not to live (for me anyway). Hopefully someone else will have more input. |

I appreciate the comments. Yeah it's a good paying job at a public school... but I think it'd be real tough to have any social life out there. |

My first job offer was to Uljin.
I pretty much accepted it. Knowing nothing about korea, the recruiter told me there was a 24 hour mart and only 2 hours from Seoul. Asian dudes like me don't get job offers to Seoul, they want white people only (that's what the recruiter told me).
I ended up working in Anyang, not Uljin. While in Korea, I visited Uljin and found out it was about 6 hours (?) from Seoul by bus. There was a Family mart in the middle of the town and everybody I saw (10 or 20 so locals) were all over the age of forty.
Soooooooo glad I didn't end up in Uljin. |

Uljin is pretty small. I went there a long time ago. Zero young people and boarded up schools(no young people to attend).
Korean beaches are kinda dull thanks to no beach culture. Don't expect surfing and bikini volley ball. More like barbwire, search lights, and family picnics. |

If you buy a beater car for 1K it would be okay, but I think you'll need a car. |
