Yea, saying "lol" in the title made me sound 12, but it was pretty funny.

Anyway, I was taking over the pe-gu game until I jammed my pinky pretty hard against my leg going to catch the ball. Now on the top knuckle (first wrinkle below my nail) it hurts to bend.

I was pretty pissed off as soon as I did it because I know sprained fingers take a massively long time to heal, and sometimes all of the pain never goes away. I once sprained the ring finger next to it 14 years ago and at times I can still feel discomfort. But I never had it treated. So, this time I put a homemade splint (Popsicle stick and medical tape) on it and hoping for the best. I've had it on for about 2-3 weeks but there is still pain when I bend it all the way. I'm trying to exercise/stretch it out every other day, though.

Anyway, I'd like to know HOW LONG I can wear this splint for. It feels really vulnerable when I take it off so I'd actually prefer to wear it and protect my finger. I just don't know how long is too long...

Anyone out there know how long I can wear the splint for?

Wear it and ice it until there is pretty much no more pain. A little discomfort will be around for a while like you said.

It should take 3-4 weeks to feel better before using your finger without the splint.

Btw - splinting your finger is a very good idea. I dislocated a finger 15 years ago and just taped it to the finger next to it to support it, but then it bent along with the healthy finger. Now my finger has a permanent bend at the knuckle and the only way to straighten it is to have it BROKEN and SPLINTED. If I had just done what you are doing...
