| When public school teachers do extra classes (art classes, math classes, English classes, etc.) between 2:40 and 4:40, do they receive some kind of compensation (extra pay, extra "points", etc.) for doing them, or do they do it without receiving any form of compensation? |

Yes, usually they recieve pay that would be much higher than a native speaker. My Korean friend (contract non-certified teacher) gets 65,000 per class for the after school program.

I'm talking about the certified public school teachers that are homeroom teachers, or could become homeroom teachers (i.e. science teacher(s), English teacher(s), etc.). |

It's the same answer, they get paid and usually at a higher rate than a native speaker. |

Yes, they get well paid for them.
They may also get paid for them even if YOU are doing the teaching (your "supervisor" for the A/S class whom you may never see but gets paid anyway).

In my area Korean PS teachers get Chuseok and Seollal bonuses too.
Any camp I've ever worked the budget is about 1-1.2 million.
100,000-15,0000 goes to supplies
300,000 goes to each native teacher (usually 2)
The rest goes to the Korean teacher that sits in the office and does nothing.
My wife's co-teacher used to stay at school until 8 pm shopping on the internet getting paid for the whole time she was there. |

| I'm a bit surprised at the comments here. My wife is a Korean public school teacher in Gyeonggi-Do and she gets paid the same 35,000 won per afterschool hour that GEPIK teachers get. When she stays until 10 pm to supervise students, she makes around 7,000 won per hour. |

In general, Korean public school teachers get paid higher in rural areas and smaller cities. |

Did we get a raise? I only get 20k per class hour (overtime rate) for A/S and I have NEVER seen a GEPIK contract that offers more.

You're right. My contract states 20k too. I was confused because they decided to pay me at the 35k rate for my after school classes. So, I guess the teachers do get paid 75% more than native speakers. |
