I'm looking to buy a Hi-Pass card/transmitter. Can I just stop at any of the road-side offices that are near the IC's to do this? Is it easy enough to do with basic Korean skills? |

I heard that Costco sells them, but it might be a lie. Your best bet might be to buy one online. Have you tried Gmarket? |

As compact cars receive the 50% discount on highway tolls, they can't use Hi-Pass - so I've been told. You must drive through the regular pay lines and pay the assistant at your exiting IC. |

My HiPass uses a Korean credit card. You might want to get the credit card first.
I doubt the above info above that smaller cars don't receive the discount for hi-pass. When you register for use you define your car type, you'd just define it mini-car death trap. |

When I went to register for Hi-Pass for my compact at regular E-Mart or Home Plus, they turned me away. Of course, I went there alone thinking I could do it myself but still. I had a Korean credit card and everything.
This was a year ago so the procedures might have changed. |

Perhaps vehicle size does matter.
Could you get a Korean to co-sign with you? |

Not true, you just need to register your HiPass is a small car, I often go through HiPass behind tax cheating, deathtrap small cars and they pay juust over half of what I pay. Usually HiPass gives everyone some form of discount.
You do need to buy the unit from a store or Gmarket and you need to have a Korean Credit card. Caution Samsung gave me a HiPass card free, KB Card ripped me off w10,000 for a HiPass card. |

I got mine at Lotte mart and they did all the paperwork for me. Then I went to Shinhan bank and ordered the card( I have a credit card with them) it was easy |
