I'll be changing jobs with a letter of release in August. My letter of release will be for Monday Aug 20th (though I'll actually be finishing work on Friday the 17th) and my new contract will start with Gangnam public school on Sep 1st (actual job starting on Monday Sep 3rd).
I want to leave of Korea on Saturday Aug 18th, and return around 10 days later (say Wed Aug 29th-ish).
Will there be any problem doing a visa transfer and traveling at this time? Do I need to give in my alien card and/or passport? I'm hoping that after being a long time ttompatz reader, first time writer, he'll be able to help me out Any other input is welcome to. |

Do the transfer and visa extension (takes about 30 minutes at the counter in immigration) then take your holidays. It can usually be done during your last 7 days of employment.
They should just amend the back of your ARC and do nothing in your passport.
They should return both to you.
If, on the off-chance, they take your ARC (it takes a couple of weeks to get the new one back), you can walk across the hall and get a paper version of your "certificate of alien registration". It will suffice for a temporary ARC replacement for travel.
