Some of you might remember that a fighter at my gym recently won a OBPF title belt. Well, he has his first title defense this week. I don't know who it is, but I'm assuming he's Japanese since the event is called Korea Japan Rookie Boxing or something like that in Korean. There is surprising little info online. I only found this out through my trainer.

The event is not in Seoul so I have no idea how to get there or how to get tickets. But the event will be broadcast live at 2pm on MBC Sports. So tune in if you like boxing. The Champion Minwook Kim, is an exciting fighter with lots of speed and power. He knocked out all 3 of his last opponents.

Also, there will be amateur boxing event in seoul prior at around 1pm. It will feature Korean drama actress 이시영, who apparently really loves fighting as well.

No one's interested? I checked the location and apparently it's going to be at daechon beach where the Mud festival is. People at the festival can check it out.

Turns out Minwook Kim's opponent was the Korean national Champion, Pansoo Kim. Minwook KOed his opponent yet again in the 2nd round to retain his title.

The live broadcast showed two undercard matches before the main event featuring Japanese vs Korean fights. The first one was very suspect as the judges ruled it a draw even though anyone watching the fight could easily tell the Korean guy was getting his ass kicked around the ring.

That's the hometown advantage. Don't worry; the next Korean to fight in Japan will find out (just like the last Korean guy that fought there).

I hoped the Korean boxing authorities would've done better since they're all about "bringing back" boxing and what not. Questionable decisions aren't going to help.

What'd you think about the main event Joe? Is it just me or does Pansoo Kim look way too small for that weight class?

Also did you catch the Khan vs Garcia fight?

Christ I wish they would just man up already and have enough balls to do the right thing.

It's not like anyone's going to forget '88.

Let other countries be the small wee-wee: Korea, Grow the Hell Up Already.

Didn't see the Korean fights, but I saw Khan vs Garcia. Those guys were so fast it was humbling to watch. I like Kenny Bayless (the ref), but he should have stopped the fight after the first knockdown. Khan didn't know where the hell he was and couldn't even walk straight.

Yeah I was surprised he didn't. I can't believe there was talk about a Mayweather vs Khan before this though. Mayweather would've killed him.

To be fair, Khan looked spectacular in some of his fights. He made Paulie Malignaggi look slow! And he was doing well against Garcia until he got hit with that left hook.
Amir Khan isn't a mere con.
Cool
