Ever see ajossis just hanging out, effortlessly squatting, enjoying a cigarette and wish you could just plop yourself down on your ankles when you're tired too? Or can you do it as well?

For the people who vote yes and grew up in a Western country, it would be cool to know if your background is Asian or not. I've met some North American women who can do it but I don't think I've met a North American man who could do it unless he was raised abroad.

Anybody who played baseball as a kid probably took a turn or two behind home plate as a catcher. I'd say that's about all you'll find who have any skill at doing that.

It's different though, as catchers don't squat flat-footed. I swear it's genetic, with Indians representing the daywalkers, though adoptees might provide a better sample in that regard (Steelrails?).

Oh, for sure. Plenty of Europeans do it.

Just not North Americans and Anglosphere people, including a lot of Asians who grew up in North America.

Im sure most people can actually do it.

but can you hold it?

and I don't mean like 1 minute. I mean like an hour
like Asians do.

White boy here, grew up in a western country. I've been able to do the Asian-style squat all my life. Never had a problem with it, nor with holding the position for long periods.

That's not doing the squat I outlined in the original post if you are flexing your muscles to keep yourself in position.

It should make no difference whether it's a minute or an hour.

Did you vote "Yes"?

Every human being except paraplegics can squat. I hope people voting on the thread did not confuse the two.

Flat-footed? I'm not being facetious here, it's just that spending the better part of my life around a lot of Asians, the ability to squat flat-footed has been pretty ubiquitous, regardless of where they grew up. I don't know any white folks who can squat without resting on the balls of their feet.

I'm as white as they come from Eastern Canada and have no trouble squatting flat footed.

Most of my Asian-Canadian friends can't squat flat-footed. It isn't genetic, it's trained. If you do it since you're a little toddler, then the muscles will learn to be comfortable in that position.
