My girlfriend wants to go under the knife for a big size increase.

I am not sure how comfortable I am about this. She didn't tell me until after she went to the clinic to talk to them about it.

Has anyone on the board here had surgery done themselves or to their SO in Korea?

From a visual point of view I don't have any objections but I am worried about her health and possible back problems that could be caused as a result.

She seems determined to go through with it but I think I could talk her out of it if I take a strong enough stance.

I don't know about what kind of implants they use here, but I had a friend back home dying a slow death from lupus. It seems it was caused by leaking silicon and it can't be cured. Also find out where they do the incision to insert the implants. I've seen low grade boob jobs where there's an obvious (albeit, unattractive) crescent shaped scar on the aeriola.

To get this thread back on topic......................

OP -- if you are close and serious, tell her your opinion is NO!!! I have some experience from a guy's perspective to lend. Her perspective might be different and she will make her decision regardless but just give her the big NO!!! You are crazy as ......!

Why? Well I had a great relationship, long term with a beautiful woman. She had small breasts but she was also quite petite. Didn't really seem to noticeable. But she had always felt "out of the norm" since puberty and all those other big breasted teens who beat her to the guys....and teased.

So she became successful, a doctor. Natural believer, vitamins, chiropractic etc........One day she says she will be at her mothers for a couple weeks. I say ok, i was also busy traveling on business......

I return and get the truth. Implants done!!!! She didn't ask me. She was in incredible pain and had to have them redone (doctor did too large a job!!! she was literally bursting.). I continued the relationship for awhile and yes the *beep* were great but also like rubber. Just artificial. I eventually dropped the relationship, mostly because it caused a wall to come up between us. I could not reconcile myself to her weak ways, giving in to this......she was hypocritical and definitely though believing in loving oneself and all that garbage -- deep down was controlled by culture and fashion and fad and fucked up shit.....

So there is my little experience. Tell her to get perspective!!!!!! If not, drop her like a stone. But at the same time by her something to read by Germaine Greer. she has a few great collections of essays.

Apparently these kinds of procedures (cosmetic surgery) are rife with problems, usually stemming from poor work on the part of the doctor. I personally have seen one breast job and it really looked odd. Double eyelid surgery is popular here as well, and I have seen some pretty bad work.

fake boobies are no fun. at least not for me. it's something i discussed with my wife before we got married. i like her just the way she is and blah blah blah... mind you, she didn't express any desire to go under the knife. i just wanted to get it out of the way, so hopefully i wouldn't get any surprises like the one mentioned above.

Just let her get on with it if that's what she wants to do.

I don't see the problem. If she wants to change her body, fine. People have eyelid surgery, tummy tucks, and all sorts of minor cosmetic surgery to make themselves feel more attractive.

But I would try to guide your GF to find someone competent, and not to overdo it. Augmentation looks good on people if they don't try to look like Anna Nicole Smith. Just my 2c.

Caution her to be careful about chosing a surgeon, and tell her you love her without them. After that, I think its out of your hands.

Tell her to go for it. PUPPIES!!!

They're not fake if you can touch them.

I've seen some bad jobs, but also some magnificent post-op mams in my day. Ask for referrals from former clients, if you can get them, or at least a couple of before/after shots of his/her work.

Ugg. My GF is always on about changing something through surgery. Fake evil pillows are the worst. They look fake. I grant you women assume since men pant like mad dogs at photos of women with big fun bags, they assume men are only attracted to that. However, unless we're Brad Pitt and can have our pick, men in general like sloops. Full stop. Big, small. We don't generally complain if we have access to a pair. The only requirement is there are two.

Does she know that they're only temporary and she'll have to have many future surgeries if she wants to keep that look the rest of her life?

I'm sure there are lots of horror stories all over the Net you could show here. I'd try to scare her out of it.

A lot of times, when a girl says "I wanna get breast implants" it means "I wanna hear how my breasts are just lovely."

But if she wants to get them, there's not much you can do, is there? This desire probably dates back to before you were dating her, and it's her body anyways. Hey, I've got an idea. You can start a poll her and we'll all vote "No" and then you can print it out and give it to her. That should do the trick, right?

Yes. I had a plastic surgeon in one of my classes and he said he spent much of his time fixing botched jobs done by doctors who aren't qualified plastic surgeons--but who charged less than qualified ones.
In Korea you don't need to be a certified plastic surgeon to perform many procedures (!!!) so a lot of garden variety doctors of all disciplines have set up shop because there's so much money to be made.
That doesn't mean they really know what they're doing though.

Hopefully our girlfriend is consulting with a qualified plastic surgeon even if it's more expensive. The list of things than can and do go wrong with one's health as well as esthetically after a boob job is too long to take a chance with a discount shop.

So you are allowed to cut people up without qualifications, but try to imparting your knowledge of english to korean kids without a degree is illegal..

Maybe I'm alone here, but I'd choose an afternoon of unqualified english over and afternoon of unqualified surgery Shocked

Quite right. Women and girls need to know that many men don't really care about big jugs. I certainly don't. Things like face and personality are much more important. Guys who will only look at a woman with big b00bs are very much like women who say they'll only go for a guy with 10 inches - not worth a normal person's time.

T1ts are overrated. They look great on pics and in movies etc but in real life they're just big saggy flabby things - always a disappointment.
