For those who divorced their K-wives in Korea (and who have kids), I'd be interested to know how much alimony you had to pay.
Did you also have to give your wife half of your assets as well? |

Maybe it's time for you to open an overseas bank account... |

I've always be slightly curious about how Korea handles this. I've seen too many first hand stories here about one parent just stepping out of the kid's life. |

My hunch is splitting assets and alimony is a Western phenomenon. |

you don't need laws and rules to tell you what you should do ...
do what is right, it's your child! the more is better isn't it.
pay for him, help out with the bills for him.
give your ex wife half the money you guys earned together and go your separate ways. if she not willing to hand over half the money because you ended up doing the Korean thing, money in her account and she controls it, then sue her in court for it..
but the child should never suffer in a divorce. NEVER. |

hold the phone here...you have no idea what else is going on here. I won't get into scenarios, because it would be wrong to do so. But sheets and giggles I will throw one out. What if the OP's wife has a "new" friend who plans on moving into the picture who is quite wealthy. I will leave it at that.
As for how much to pay, put it this way, one former NFL player is paying $8000 a month....PER KID in alamony. He is now broke and could face possible jail time. What kid needs 8 large a month to get by? Fair question OP. Let us know what it ends up being please and good luck through this process.
