Does anyone know if you can specify the time you would like your goods delivered from Gmarket? I want to order some chicken, but since I don't get home until 6, I'm worried about it thawing/spoiling before I can get it into my freezer.

I've never had any luck with that. It's the big drawback with Gmarket; you order, the delivery dude calls, then you have to haggle in Korean about what time and day is acceptable.

gmarket offers a memo line during the order process for the delivery guy to see before going out with it. Sometimes it works, but it's been hit or miss with it though. I've had some bad experiences with delivery... one time I ordered something from auction.co.kr and the delivery guy just dumped it off at the closest convenience store without contacting me. not a phone call or anything...

Yikes, thanks for your replies.

Also, does anyone have experience ordering chicken, etc from there? What kind of packaging does the frozen stuff arrive in?

All frozen things come in a styrofoam box packed with ice. I've had it left at the front of my door all day and it was still frozen when I opened it.

I've had the same experience with frozen fruit. It arrives in a styrofoam box, packed with those freezer gel packs or on one occasion a block of dry ice (that was kind of weird, but apparently effective.) And everything, whether it'd been sitting there for 1 hour or 8, was still frozen. So you shouldn't have any worries about your stuff thawing out before you get home.

If there's a fridge at your work, have you considered getting it delivered to your workplace? My boss has always been cool with me doing that, and if you tell them ahead of time to expect it, it should be no big deal and they probably won't open it and be nosy about it if they know what it is first (but ask first, imho). In my experience, things get delivered at around 1pm, so 5 hours on your doorstep... That's just me, though, and I have had things get delivered quite late (4 pm)as well, so... good luck!
