|
|
Hi all
I'm traveling to the Gulf in a few weeks and just wondered if my old Korean phone would work with a local sim card at their airport. I have a small (rather beaten up) Anycall flip phone that I used for 3 years while I was in Korea- from 2007-2010. I bought it used then. But it was mostly reliable.
Does anyone know if a phone like this would be unlocked and functional with int'l sim cards? I'm a little skeptical about assuming any old gsm phone will work in any country, myself. But people keep telling me it will.
Comments? Suggestions? |

IF it is an unlocked GSM phone then yes... but I doubt that a Korean phone of that vintage is unlocked or GSM.

i also highly doubt it would be gsm. korea did not use standard international gsm bands at that time. however, you could get that phone re-activated for a short time and then go to the LG/KT/SK booth at incheon airport where for a very tiny fee they will rent you a phone that can be used in your destination country. you just have to be willing to pay the price for roaming and data that they already have established for that country.
if that doesn't float your boat, buy an old used iphone or galaxy here and just buy a sim when you get to your destination country. just be careful, because for newer iphones you may have to cut up the sim a bit with scissors since it doesn't use the standard sim size. |
