Hey, thanks for answering questions re the D-10 before. I'm interested in this visa as I asked for advice for a mate before and he's rather worried about getting this visa when he finishes his present job.
He lives the other end of Korea from me which is why I won't be going to Kimmi with him when he has to go there 14 days before his contract finishes.
He thinks he will have a problem proving his schedule really will be about looking for work because he has to write a plan for 6 months and he's worried that he won't be able to vary it enough for each month to get approved.
He's also worried that he will be rejected on the grounds of funds to support himself because he's going to have to wait at least a month before he gets paid for his last months work and the other entitlements.
Has anybody who applied for the D-10 got a rough time from Kimmi about these things, esp proving funds in your bank account? My mate thinks that will sink him because he's going to have to wait for his and won't have the money in his account before he goes to Kimmi with his form. Much of his money goes on loans back home but he lives carefully. |

You can get one month added which functions like a tourist visa, so there is no doubt he can get 30 days.
The last month's pay and severance should be paid at the end of the contract period. I think the school has 14 days to pay the severance. He should have plenty of money.
6 months is not necessary to find a new school and you would be out 12,000,000 won at least if you were able to get it. If you don't have money to comfortably live off of then maybe it's best you don't qualify for 6 months but get a few months instead (if that is how they do it, is 6 months the minimum?). |

I filled out the form. On line one I wrote: 'Looking and searching online' and then I drew three downward arrows all the way to month six. I pick mine up on the 27th. He doesn't have to come up with an elaborate story. It is a formality at best. I'm sure no one will actually read it. |

For the most part... it is a non issue for anyone who qualifies for an E2 and is already in Korea on an E2 and needing a bridge visa between jobs.
It is an issue for those who are abroad and are seeking a D10 to come to Korea to look for work.

I wrote "applying for jobs" in all six month categories. They asked me about money.. I checked 'credit cards' and they said ok. Simple as pie.
If you have an E-2, I think you are pretty much guaranteed a D-10 visa. |

I was told by various official sources that I could not apply for a D10 visa until I Finished my contract. I did try to do so before my contract ended but to no avail.
When I finished my contract I went to immigration and they gave me a D10 that day(50,000 WON).My ARC end-date has been extended by sixth months.
As for the six month plan, I only wrote a 3 month plan.I wrote that I would go home after 3 months. And for proof of funds I might have been a little optimistic but no proof was asked.
Truth is, you should definitely have a new job a LOT sooner than six months but the D10 does allow you to leave the country/go home/hang around etc. Your legal residency is simply extended by 6 months. |
