Sorry if this is kind of a repost but what podcasts do you listen to? I'm in need for some new stuff for my lengthy commute.
My favorites:
All Songs Considered (NPR)
This American life (NPR)
The Mike O'Meara Show (Itunes and www.mikeomearashow.com ) 1 hour comedy podcast out of the Washington DC area. |

Check out Ricky Gervais for information on the hilarious interaction he and his collaborator have with their dense producer, Karl Pilkington. Don't know if it's still being produced much but it's hilarious.
If you like news in which you actually learn something useful, check outDemocracy Now. |

Some of my favorites, in no particular order (I'm from the US and a basketball fan, so that tends to flavor my preferences):
EconTalk
Uncommon Knowledge
Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me
PRI: America Abroad
Bloggingheads.tv
The Basketball Jones
C-Span After Words
FEE Austrian Economics Seminar Podcast
From Our Own Correspondent
NPR Fresh Air
Peter Day's World of Business
Most of these are 30-60 minutes in length, and thus great for those long commutes. |

If you like This American Life, you should check out A Life Well Wasted.
http://alifewellwasted.com/
It's a gaming podcast but also, it's not. There have only been a handful of installments because the creator Robert Ashley creates the music, compiles the interviews, edits and basically single-handedly composes each amazing episode. My personal favorite is Episode 4: Artists, Fans & Engineers.
I'm going to listen again now, I think!
Out of the Game is great too. It is also a gaming podcast but not all just reviews and blah blah blah. The focus is on nerd stuff, culture, media etc. It's not as polished as ALWW, though. http://mexicutedbyhepitacos.libsyn.com/
I also like the Adam Carolla Podcast because he is such a fascinating storyteller. Even though I don't necessarily agree with a lot of his views. |

I like
The Adam Corrola show. Alot of it is dross but his movie pitches and rants are pretty funny.
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. Infrequently updated but always excellent. Especially the four parter on the war on the eastern front. Not dry at all.
Filmspotting. Great movie review podcast. they also do 'marathons' of old movies with a theme. Like 5 weeks, one movie a week from one director/era/style etc
Football Weekly. Football podcast from the guardian. funny.
A history of the world in a 100 objects. From BBC R4. History podcast based on a single significant object each ep.
In our Time. Also from Radio 4. A podcast about the history of ideas. Round table discussion led very well by Melvyn Bragg. He asks the same questions I would.
Thinking Allowed. Also from R4. All about sociology.
The Nerdist. Interviews with comedians. funny.
Skeptics guide to the universe. Skeptical, scientific podcast.
Astronomy Cast. Very informative astronomy podcast.
The solid verbal. college football |

"Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me"
"Survival Phrases" in Korean
"Stuff You Should Know"/"Stuff They Never Taught You In..."
and whatever iTunesU stuff comes up that is interesting...mostly history/social science stuff. |

I've only been listening to three podcasts regularly since I got an iPod:
Guardian Football Weekly (or World Cup Daily right now):
- Easily the most consistently insightful and laugh out loud funny football journalism. I listen to this religiously.
BBC Documentaries
- Great range of topics. Well produced and often touching. My favorites have been the one where Guantanamo ex-prisoners and an ex-guard reunite, and the one about the Finnish school for the blind. Like the aforementioned pieces, these documentaries often show how audio media can be superior to other types of media.
TED Talks:
- I think everyone knows these.
I also sometimes listen to the Guardian Music Weekly if I want to find out about new music. |
