I am currently in Korea and going through the process of getting a Criminal Record Check. Just mailed the completed form to RCMP today.
When I applied for my ARC I had to give a written promise to produce a CRC in 18 weeks.
I have been reading online that the process takes up to six months,I have been told four months by phone, and the canadian embassy here says 18 weeks.
The day I received my ARC I showed them the Canadian embassy CRC info I received and they decided to change the date on it to 5 months not the original 3.
When I first researched the CRC process the Canadian Embassy document said 2-3 weeks so I let myself waste 11 days organizing the paperwork as time alowed and I will loose another 14 to the mail service getting it there.
TLDR main question below
I'm wondering about a worst case senario. What options do I have if in the last month the ARC is valid I have still not received my crc from canada? |

Worst case? They don't give you the extension.
They deport you.
They chain you up in a dungeon and rip your fingernails out.
Likely case - you get the extension.
The officers have a lot of discretion. If you show that you're making the effort and that the papers will be here soon, they'll probably give you the extension. You could run into an officer that's not very accommodating, or you could piss one off and end up not getting what you want. But, play cool, show you're doing what needs to be done and that it's the government that you're waiting on and beg for forgiveness - you should be okay. |
