I want to transfer my E2 visa to a new job in October and from what I have read on here I can do this simply with certified copies of my docs from immigration. I called immigration and they also confirmed this.

Why is it then EVERY recruiter I have spoken to keeps telling me I need new documents ? I inform them of what immigration said and they do not seem to grasp the concept at all and keep saying I need new ones. It is becoming very frustrating. Has anyone done an E2 visa transfer with these certified copies ?

I transferred, I had all of my originals that immi had kept, the certified copies and a LOR from my employer (who helped me move). I certainly didn't need to get anything new sent from home.

Thats good to hear, so immi gave you back the original versions of what you submitted last year ? When i spoke to them they said they cannot give them back to me, only the certified copies.

Because they know everything. Try explaining to them you have a D 10 and see how fast the interview ends. It's all about the documents these days.

I went to Busan immigration yesterday to ask for these elusive "certified copies" of last years documents so I get there and tried speaking with two people neither of whom could speak English and had no clue what I was talking about.

One of them directed me to a man at the foreigner sojourn desk who after several minutes said " ahh yes upstairs, let me take you" then on the stairs when he was out of sight he got really angry and waving papers in my face said " why you choose me ? " I was shocked and said "what" and he said in an even louder angrier voice " YOU !! Why you make my life difficult"

I was expecting some possible problems but I was not expecting to almost get assaulted by a paper wielding immigration official !

So then we get upstairs and a woman prints me off a copy of last years docs but there is no indication they have come from immigration, and they are half the original size due to a " system error "

Basically I could have printed them myself from my own copies and they would look better and be exactly the same. I asked her to stamp it or sign it, just do anything to it to show that it comes from immigration, and she said no, and she didnt charge me the 300 won per copy which Ttompatz says it costs for the certified version.

This whole experience has left me really angry and with even less faith in the puppets who work in the immigration department. I have ordered new documents from the UK because I dont have any faith in immigrations ability to do their job properly and consistently.
