I can't wait for it to end, and for the weather to cool down too. I'm going to be very active in what I expect to be my last temperate season in Korea.

I particularly hate the rain. I have to arrange lifts to work because it's not worth taking the scooter out. Also I can't play football or go fishing

Why? Are you an native English farmer, or something?

The weather has been worse than horrible this month. Rain everyday, I want to get out and climb some mountains.

I can't wait until winter to do some climbing. I love hiking in winter. You never get too hot and Korean winters are so clear.

New Zealander from a farming background. Pretty close. I like heavy rain, find it refreshing. Plus it cools this country down.

Either heavy rain or completely blue skies for me. Everything in between is a wasted opportunity.

Are you guys in different parts of the country? Because here in Incheon it was pretty dry up until this week and last week. They were even talking about how dry it was. I was actually wondering where the rainy season had gone for most of August.

Fair enough. The heavy rain has definitely cooled it down today, so I can't complain too much

Actually down here it's been pretty dry up until this week. The forecast was heavy rain for the week or two before that though, so it was never worth making plans

Up until about a week and a half ago, it was quite sunny. The past couple of years (June through to September), it seemed to either be rainy and muggy or grey skies and muggy with the threat of rain. So, this I can endure. That said, if it rains beyond mid September through October, I'll be really angry. Autumn is the best time to get outdoors here.

What, did you all just arrive here? Compared to the "Summer" of 2011, this is a mere sprinkling! A good 6 weeks of non-stop rain (some interruptions of as much as an hour) and some of the worst flooding that Seoul had seen in a long time. Han river up 6 to 8 meters, completely covering the hump of lower Banpo Bridge.

This, now, is just a welcome interruption of the usually unbearable August weather.

A long time being 2005? Or was it 2006? I know one of those two years, the Han swallowed up quite a bit more than just the lower Banpo's hump.

Agreed.

This year so far has been pleasantly good with no extremes except that 1 week period of 37 Celsius degrees. Spring was nice and FREE from yellow dust. No rain for 2 months (May-June) The monsoon was a bit late this year and was shorter than usually. Even that monsoon period was good: 1 day rain-blue sky and sunshine for 2 days another rainy day- sunshine again.

I hear there's supposed to be a massive monsoon hitting the area next week.

Since 2008, actually. It just feels like a long time Embarassed

Just out of interest, what happens to the 740 bus that uses the lower part of the bridge, in case of severe floods? Will it just move to the top and skip a station or two, or what's the plan for that?
