Hi-

I'm arriving in Korea in about a week for a year in Daegu and Gyeongsan. Any Hawk fans over there/here?

I'm hoping to find a couple of sports bars that carry the Big Ten Network, and/or hook up with some Hawk fans fast (first game is right around the corner). Also hoping to get info on getting web or cable access quickly.

Thanks, and go Hawks!

I-L-L

I-N-I

Sorry about your status coming from the 'other' U of I. It's all right though. It could be worse, you could have gone to Michigan.

I will tell you, though, it's damn hard to watch ANY football in this country. NFL is doable, especially if you pony up the $200 or so to get the online package and are willing to blackout yourself until you can watch the delayed feed. Time difference means the typical 1 PM afternoon game will happen at something like 3 or 4 AM on Monday for pro, and the same Sunday morning for college.

College ball is VERY unlikely. Even in Seoul. Whatever alums of big schools may be over here, we're all scattered halfway to everywhere. Even finding 2 or 3 people who care about a certain school's games is just not something you'll find [I've NEVER met a single fellow Illini here in 1.5 years, let alone one who cared about football]. I don't even know that BTN CAN be gotten here, but it would be far too expensive and with no payoff for the sports bars, compared to Premier League, NFL, or whatever else they get.

If you want to watch, figure on watching alone. Track down the sports feed sites and they might have it, or just fork out the cash and do an online subscription. Going to bars will likely just waste your time, sorry.

It's hard to prognosticate, especially with the closed practices. The D should be stout, but the offense is a big question mark and the jury is still out on Muschamp.

I love the fellowship us B1G alums have.

That being said....because a lot of Big Ten games have early kickoff times, you'll find it hard to catch some games.

I recommend using a sports streaming site. I cant remember the name but try to Google it, there is a major one out there that's free and even has streaming torrents! I've used the site for both NCAA football and NCAA basketball.

Gators? Really? Shocked There goes the neighborhood. Very Happy I hear Gator soup is good for stamina, so kill and eat any and all Gators that you see. Twisted Evil

I watch a lot of sports, including NCAAF, on Veetle.com, but it's hit or miss. Somebody has to be streaming the particular game that you are interested in. Fortunately, somebody that is a fan of my school does just that.

Or go to the competing schools fan sites, I have seen ( an used ) passwords for sites like JustinTV that people post for public consumption. Sometimes you get the rival team announcers, but ( tautology of the day ) "It is what it is". Sometimes there are other links. It's always a good idea to have a proxy server in mind at these times.
