One of the VERY rare articles Brian Ashcraft has written of any value. Awesome set of photos. Just started working in Gangnam, actually. Glad to see something good come out of Gangnam style.

That set of pictures is an almost unbelievable fast-forward.

When I first told my Korean friends how amazed I was that Korea modernized so quickly from being very "country", they always tell me "that was such long time ago." I guess relative to their ages, yeah. Great pictures.

I remember those apartments getting built. The gov agency in charge of distributing those housing to the needy weren't ready for the ruthless real estate speculators at all. In the west we sleep on the street waiting in line for concert tickets. Speculators slept on the street, in the cold of January waiting in line, trying to get rich. Then again, parents wait in line no matter what the circumstances are trying to get their kids into a kindergarten of good repuation as well. Things we do for love, indeed.
