Hey guys,
First question:
My criminal record check expires Sept 27th (It will be 6 months on the 27th of September). If I get a job that begins in October- will it be good enough?
Second question:
I've recently got some requests for documentation to be sent over to Korea. Since this documentation is costly, I do not want to send it when I'm not supposed to. It was my knowledge that to obtain my E-2 Visa I should send my apostilled documents (including passport photos, and a signed contract) to the Korean Consulate nearest to me... but these recent companies are asking me to send the docs directly to them. Is this a scam? |

It must be 6 months or less when it lands on the desk at immigration (not when you start work).
6 months + 1 day and you get a new set.
In the job search process you send SCANS of your documents with your applications.
The hard copies of your CBC and apostilled degree go to the employer (in Korea) as the 1st step in the visa application process ALONG with your signed copy of the employment contract. The employer forwards them to immigration along with a request for a visa confirmation number. No contract = no hard copies.
You take the visa confirmation number that the employer sends back to you when you go to the consulate to apply for your visa. The consulate does NOT get your CBC and degree*.
* IF you are Canadian then you need the documents certified by the Korean consulate and NOT an apostille.
